The 2023 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship trophy is safely in the possession of Manuel Lettenbichler, the KTM 300 EXC rider. Mani won the 2023 Hixpania Hard Enduro after fighting his way up the last steep climb to the finish line. He triumphed over the race that began in a cave by finishing the three-day, five-round competition.

Race Days:

Day 1: Friday, October 13, 2023, was the opening race day for Hixpania. The mandatory preamble took place in Aguilar de Campoo’s downtown to maximise the number of onlookers able to witness the amazing spectacle.

Day 2: The two preliminary runs were still relatively dry, but as the rain started to come, the riders’ safety was in peril due to the artificial obstacles made of concrete, wood, and stones becoming extremely wet. On the second of three race days at the “Campoo X-Treme,” the FIM World Federation officials decided to cancel the final race and give the points for first through third place in the prologue.

The second day, October 14, 2023, saw two cross-country laps of 44 kilometres, each around a lake at the Campo X-Treme. Lettenbichler eased up, being cautious not to hurt himself or make any blunders.

Day 3: On Sunday, October 15, 2023, the riders competed in the main event, “Acerbis El Camino Perdido” (Lost Road), on a roughly 4.5 km course in qualifying order. Situated on the peninsula in the lake, the track offers breathtaking scenery and presents some challenging technical sections. The race’s last stretch began with the renowned uphills after two and a half hours. Thousands of supporters fervently celebrate the riders and themselves in this final and aptly titled “Hixpania Hill” portion, which is housed in a former quarry and has a dynamite atmosphere.

For this year’s FIM Hard Enduro, no course walking was authorised, leaving the contenders with no vision of what to expect from the 35-kilometres long track. With outside aid prohibited, taking a clean start and being at the head of the field proved crucial factors for his ultimate winning. Amidst the hurdles of recent rain and fog, the KTM 300 EXC rider delivered an outstanding performance in hard enduro riding, increasing his advantage over the rest of the field and controlling the race from the front. His will to win drove him to put his head down and never gaze back from the start of the race. From the very beginning of the race, he assumed complete control and rode to the victory lane.

KTM 300 EXC rider Manuel Lettenbichler went through an outstanding year and was unstoppable through the season. He conquered the Xross Hard Enduro, Red Bull Erzbergrodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs, and Red Bull Outliers. This is the second time that the 25-year-old is winning the title of the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.

Let’s listen to what the world champion Mani has to say about his victory. “Here I am now, fifth race win in a row for this season and world champion. I had to push so hard today. I got a good start and was able to pass Billy almost straight away and from there I just focused and kept up a good rhythm. Honestly, the day could not have gone any better for me, the race was awesome. What can I say? I’m just speechless.”

With more motorcycles and more races, KTM never fails to stun their people with surprise and excitement. You don’t have to wait longer, a new array of nail-biting KTM races is on the way!
